Daniel Maclean, free emigrant, occupation tailor, drowned aged 38 years. Buried 14 March 1838
Surname:
Maclean (McLean)
First Name:
Daniel and Margaret
Details:
Daniel Maclean, a married emigrant by the ship Portland lately arrived in the Colony settled in this town as a tailor and was noticed as an industrious steady man. In a state of temporary mental aberration he plunged into the Hunter in the night of Monday the 12th March, got entangled in the weeds and was drowned. Margaret Maclean, in consequence of the sudden and melancholy decease of her husband, is reduced to a state of destitution from which she humbly trusts that the Christian benevolence of the Australian public will relieve her by any the smallest contribution which may enable her to enter into a plan for her future support and trusts that in consequence of the afflicting dispensation of which she is the subject connected with her present situation being near her accouchement, her friends Messrs. Young and Ledsam may prove successful in the charitable undertaking etc.
